Welcome to the Kidd's Kids Blog Page!!

This space is for you to share your stories about Kidd's Kids. We enjoy hearing from our families, partners, and contributors. Your words help us promote the "magical" experience the charity creates for children and their families. It is because of these stores that we are able to serve more and more children each year.

Thank you for supporting Kidd's Kids!

Thank you guys so much for what you are doing for these families. It inspired me to help and to donate. I couldn't watch all the videos b/c I was crying too hard. I want to tell more people about this organization b/c seeing the looks on the families faces on the videos, I know that they did not take any of that for granted and they really were grateful. And I feel that sadly this organization isn't out there enough. Again thank you for what all you guys are doing. May God bless you!!

Dear Kidd's kids crew,
You all are so amazing to provide this for all the kids that needs to have a little fun in the life. Every time I listen to you and the trip is discussed and clips are being played, I tear up and just think of how I have helped in some kind of way with the little I have to donate. You all are doing a great job and keep it going!

Its amazing to see something so amazing coming together for such special kids! I have a two year old son with a chronic illness that has not only taken away part of his life as a happy infant/toddler, but has also taken the toll on his big brother and the entire family-but we'll never complain because he is still with us. We know first hand what these parents are going through, and I will continue to donate to make sure that these kids get the trip of a lifetime. Spending weeks in the hospital and waiting on test results will take its toll on anyone-please donate and give these families the vacation of a lifetime!

I have followed Kidd's kids since it started in 1991. I was a young 13 yr old who had just been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Too old to go on the trip myself I vowed I would always support this charity. Today I am a 28 yr old mother of what I consider a healthy daughter. I thank God everyday for her and for chariies like yours. Over the 15 years I have watched this trip give hope and emotional healing to those involved.
Thank you so much for inviting all of us along for the audio ride to Disney World every fall.
God Bless you Kidd, Kelly, and Big Al and all the behind the scenes people.

What you are doing is wonderful. As a mother of a child diagnosed with cancer, I can understand how the families feel. I started listening to you over the summer and enjoy the morning show. Usually I am laughing so hard I am crying on my way to work but last week I was crying because I was so touched by what you are doing! Continue to work your magic! May God Bless all of you!

I have been listening to your morning show since I was 12. I just recently turned 22 and for the past decade...I've never been let down by what you all do for these beautiful angels sent from the mn above. In this world full of chaos and drama...it's a relief and hopeful to know that there ARE people who cares for those in need.

Just 2 years ago, my own family went through a tough time. My niece was involved in a horrific car accident and was ejected from the van. Out of the 7 people that was in the van, she was the one in serious condition, coma for 3 months and several times we thought that we were going to lose her. But thanks to the man above and everyone's prayers, she is now recovering and even more beautiful than ever, although she is no longer the same due to her limitations but she's our own little miracle and we thank God everyday and every second that we've been blessed with her.

Thank you for giving us all the real HOPE when we need it and for shining light and leading the way!

I have a child who was ill for three years with an undiagnosed illness. Thankfully, she is healthy now, but as the problem was never diagnosed, I was told that it could come back. They believe it was an immune system problem called common variable immune deficiency. She is my third child, and up to that point, I thought I knew what being a mother was all about...I was wrong. The helpless feeling when a doctor told me that if we could not get her gaining weight, she would not make it is something that I will never forget, but I looked at that doctor and told him that was not an option. I fought daily for her and did a lot of my own research with her abnormal labs and tests and symptoms to try to help figure out what was wrong with her. This all started when she was only nine months old and had blood in her stool. She had her first colonoscopy and polypectomy at age 12 months. Everyone thought that would be it and she would be better from that point on, but that was not what happened. She began to drop weight, ate constantly but was literally starving to death, passed blood many times, vomited for six weeks, and had many other episodes and symptoms. By age two, she had had two colonoscopies with polyps removed both times, two upper endoscopies, a Meckel's diverticular scan, two upper GI series with barium, a test for Cystic Fibrosis, a biopsy of her small intestine to look for celiac disease, ultrasounds, x-rays, tons and tons of blood work (to the point that it is almost impossible to take blood from her to this day because her veins are so messed up), stool studies, CT scans, and much more. It was a living nightmare. She is now eight years old, and does gymnastics. She is strong and healthy at this point in time. I tell this story because I want you to know that this is why I feel so strongly when I hear you talking to these families on your show. I give all the money I have on me to help any charity directed to helping kids, especially ill children, whenever I can. You have brought tears to my eyes and my three daughters' eyes many times during your show regarding Kidd's kids. I want you to know that I think what you have done and are doing for these families and these children means so much more to them than the trip to Disney World. You are helping these children and their families have some time to not think about test results or tests to come, symptoms, the scary future they may be facing, and the complete helplessness a parent feels when they cannot help their sick child. You are giving them a chance to have a few days of normalcy and to give their child joy, fun and happiness. Keep up the good work, and I will donate as much as I can possibly donate. You are all angels in the eyes of these families...never forget that.

Best wishes for your 2006 Kidd's Kids Trip! My two sons, Parker and Aaron, love listening to your morning show with me as we drive to school every morning.

To help fund the trip, we decided to collect spare change in old coffee cans and we very quickly acquired almost $100 to donate. Tonight I sent that gift in via the web.

If you could, give a shout out to Parker and Aaron some morning about a quarter to eight.

Rock on!

Kidd,

As usual I am crying to hard to call you and express my sincere thanks for all that ya'll do for these special kiddos. I want you to know that I am a Pediatric Intensive Care Nurse at Cook Children's in Fort Worth. A huge part of who I am today, as a nurse, is because of you. I believe it was 10 years ago that I sat in my car (skipping classes) and listened as you recorded the original Kidd's Kids song on air. I bought the CD immediately and that song wakes me up on my alarm clock every morning. I can't help but wonder if any of the kids you meet have been my patients. I would absolutely love to join you on a trip just to see the eyes of the kids whose lives you immeasurably touch.

Thank you does not express the depth of my gratitude I have for everyone involved in this extrodinary trip.

I am so amazed at what you do for these kids and their families every year. I am a preschool program for children with disabilities teacher in McKinney and see children go through very hard times in their lives. To hear your stories and see the pictures and videos is heartlifting. I have several students who could benefit from this trip, as their medical expenses keep their families from being able to go on these trips. God really blesses each and every one of you.

I remember listening to Krista Brewer's mom on the radio and my heart was broken for her family. My prayers are with them and I think what you guys are doing is great! Hats off to you for spreading joy! God knows we all need it in small doses. Thank you for the great morning show and the care and support you give to these families! Cassie P. in Peoria.

I live in New Orleans. I have a very close friend, practically my brother, that lost his younger brother to cancer when we were about 12 years. His brother was only 9. It was heart wrenching. We all were to go on a trip to Disney that year but unfortuantly we had to go without him. It warms my heart to know that others are getting the chance to go that he did not get. I love Disney and everything about it. It really is the place where dreams come dream. You guys are the best!!!

To Kidd and all the other ANGELS of Kidd's Kids.
Setting here, checking in to see all the news of Kidd's Kids makes me want to cry. Erin and the rest of us went in 2005, the memories we have will never be forgotten. What you do for our children, even the sibilings, can't really be expressed by words. The love you give, changes them, and us as parents. Going on the 2005 trip taught me alot about my child and myself. Thank you for everything you do. Seeing you at the Rangers Reunion, made Erin's day. Keep it going, and when you can't, someone with the HEART you have will. I think I can speak from all the Kidd's Kidds family, thank you, and may God Bless you for what you do. We love you guys!!!!!

Nineteen years ago, I gave birth to a baby that was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect. We were sent out of town for emergency "temporary" surgery. My husband and I were just devestated. The surgery was successful but during my stay an "angel" came into the room and gave me a poem. Despite everybody's efforts to say or do something to get our minds off this terrible situation, this "angel" and her poem were my salvation. I would like to share with your Kidd's Kid families.
Heaven's Very Special Child by Edna Missimilla
A meeting was held quite far from Earth. It was time again for another birth. Said the Angels to the Lord above..."This special child will need much love, His progress may be very slow, accomplishments he may not show. He'll require extra care from the folks he meets down there. He may not run or laugh or play. His thoughts may seem quite far away. So many times he will be labeled 'different', 'helpless', and 'disabled'. So let's be careful where he's sent...we want his life to be content. Please Lord, find the parents who will do a special job for you. They will not realize right away the leading role they are asked to play. But with this child sent from above comes stronger faith, and richer love. And soon they'll know the privilege given in caring from their gift from heaven. Their precious charge, so meek and mild is "Heaven's very special child".

In 2005, our daughter was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and was sent to WDW in 2006 by another organization. I would like to say that trip was great and left an impact on her and us that we will keep forever. It's people like you and them that gave us that chance to be "normal" for awhile. Although we still had to go to the hospital while on our trip and take lots of meds, it was a joyous experience. I hope you never have to experience the things we had to go through as parents and as a family and what Riley had to go through as a sick child. She's our hero! It is important that you know what you are doing really does help with the healing process in these children and for the stress factor for the parents and all family members involved. Thank you for doing what you do and we pray that God will continue to bless your organization financially and in every way possible.

I just want to Thank Kidds Kids for letting us have the opportunity to know Krista Brewer. My daughter Marisa met Krista right b4 the Kidds Kids trip & loved her from the 1 second she saw her. Krista had this vibe about her. I think Krista helped make the Kidds Kids trip of 2005. I have kept up with Krista over the past yrs & I am sad to hear she lost her battle. I know everyone says she is in a better place but it is hard to take. If it weren't for Kidds Kids my family would have never known Krista & her awesome family personally... She brought smiles to our faces when we needed them the most on the trip. I Thank her for that & she will always stay close to our hearts. Justin, Janice, & Shelby are wonderful for raising such an caring, funny, loving child.
Lots of ((HUGS)) to them!

Today, I am proud to say we are rolling out what I hope to be an annual event. We are teaming up with 106.1 KISS FM and Kidd Kraddick to raise money for Kidd’s Kids. If you have never heard of this charity, let me tell you that this is one of the most extraordinary group of kids you will ever meet. These children and their families have faced unimaginable pain and suffering and still have the gift of love and hope and joy that they share with everyone they meet. The money to pay for this trip is raised annually by the listeners and local businesses.
Celebrity, started and grew because of their “famous” iced cookies. We have created two special cookies just for Kidd’s Kids and the proceeds will go to the charity. It is a two week campaign that starts Monday, September 29th and goes through October 19th. If you or anyone you know would like to purchase these cookies for your office, your community gatherings or your family, please let us know. Our goal is $20,000.00!
In my past, I know I have seen remarkable and even miraculous things happen when people come together for the good of another person. These kids aren’t asking for miracles, just a brief reprieve from the daily pain and misery of being terminally ill. This trip is a trip of a lifetime, allowing them to be kids for just a few short days.
We are taking orders now for the cookies. Please call 214-373-0783 to place your order. Ask for Cassandra or Brad. We need only 12 hours notice for all cookie orders. Our bakers have volunteered their time to stay late and come in early to be a part of something great! Thank you so much for helping us help make a difference in their beautiful lives. They will finally know what it is like to live the magic in being a “kid” for just a few short days.
Thanks so much to everyone for all you do!

i just wanted to say thanks to kidd for having this. With a son who had a stroke at 17 months, he's now 6, i can totally relate to all the parents. it was funny on the show today you were talking about having to hear news about tests or marking a date on a calendar. I was thinking tomorrow we have to get blood work done to make sure his new medicine isn't messing with his metabolic functions. On the calendar for october 21 circled in red is his surgury date. thank you so much.

Kidd and crew,

This thing that you do really gets me every year. It really makes my own issues seem so miniscule and puts life in perspective. While getting layed off on Monday is certainly a life changing event for me, it's nothing compared to what these familys go through. I only wish I could donate more and I know that someone has blessed you all for what you are doing.

Thank you again

My response is "Because I am truly blessed"! I have never known the strife of these children and their families. You guys and everyone involved with Kidd's Kids are saints and are loved for all that you do.

This is a great thing. My son was severly disabled and he wasn't able to be out and about due to a serious heart defect also. So many people don't realize how hard it is with a handicapped child. I just wished he would have had the oppurtunity to have enjoyed this but unfortunately I lost him 02/20/2008.
